Follow up True Beginner Bridge Class 2.0
6
Dates:6/2/2025 to 7/7/2025
Meeting Times
- Monday 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Description
This class is for two groups of bridge players: 1) those who have recently completed a True Beginner class with Mike (or any other teacher) and 2) those who know how to play bridge but need a refresher on fundamentals in Bidding and Play. This means the conventions known as Stayman and Transfers as well as basic Declarer skills such as Finessing and Ruffing losers in Dummy.
In this new 6 week class, Mike will do a review of these fundamentals as well as add two new conventions: Negative Doubles and Blackwood. He will also expand the discussion on Defensive Bidding which includes Overcalls and Takeout Doubles.
The text will remain Bridge for Everyone by D. W. Crisfield, available on Amazon and in bookstores that include sections on Bridge.
Mike Hess has been mentoring and teaching bridge for over 30 years. He is a Diamond Life Master with over 5,500 masterpoints. Mike has won pair and team events at the club, sectional, regional and even national levels. In addition to taking several CT Unit 126# pairs and team titles, Mike's 2017 four person Grand National team qualified to represent District 25 (New England) at the Summer Nationals in Toronto, and then went on to win the North American championship for Flight A over a five day period.
